How to Plow On or Off Fast Startup in Windows 10

Fast startup (aka: hiberboot, hybrid boot, or hybrid shutdown) is turned on past default in Windows and is a setting that helps your PC start up faster after shutdown. Even faster than hide. Windows does this past saving an image of the Windows kernel and loaded drivers to the hiberfile (C:\hiberfil.sys) upon shutdown so when you offset your PC again, Windows only loads the hiberfile (C:\hiberfil.sys) into retentivity to resume your PC instead of restarting information technology.

Fast startup requires that hibernate be enabled. If you merely want to use fast startup and don't programme on using hibernate, then y'all can specify the hiberfile blazon as reduced to significantly reduce the size of the hiberfile (C:\hiberfil.sys) to about half of its full size.

OPTION ONE

To Turn On or Off Fast Startup in Organisation Settings

1 Open up the Control Panel (icons view), and click on the Ability Options icon.

4 If prompted by UAC, click/tap on Yes.

5 Do step vi or stride vii below for what you would like to practise.

OPTION TWO

To Plow On or Off Fast Startup using a BAT file


The downloadable .bat files below will modify the DWORD value in the registry cardinal below.

0 = Turn off fast startup
1 = Plow on fast startup

This is the default setting.

A) Click/tap on the Download button below to download the BAT file below, and go to step 5 below.

 4. To Turn Off Fast Startup

A) Click/tap on the Download button below to download the BAT file below, and go to stride v below.

5 Salvage the .bat file to your desktop.

1 Open the Local Group Policy Editor.

2 Navigate to the key below in the left pane of the Local Group Policy Editor. (see screenshot below)

3 In the right pane of Shutdown in Local Grouping Policy Editor, double click/tap on the Require use of fast startup policy to edit it. (see screenshot above)

4 Do step five (enable) or step half dozen (default) below for what you would similar to do.

 five. To Enable Crave Fast Startup

A) Select (dot) Enabled, click/tap on OK, and go to step 7 beneath. (run into screenshot below)

 6. Default to Not Crave Fast Startup

A) Select (dot) Non Configured or Disabled, click/tap on OK, and get to step 7 below. (meet screenshot below)

Not Configured is the default setting. This will allow you to use Selection One and Option Two to plough on or off fast startup.

7 When finished, yous can close the Local Group Policy Editor if you like.

OPTION 4

Enable or Disable to Require Fast Startup using a REG file


If enabled, this option will override Choice 1 and Option Ii.

The downloadable .reg files below will modify the DWORD value in the registry cardinal below.

(delete) = Default
1 = Always enable

 ii. To Enable Crave Fast Startup

A) Click/tap on the Download button below to download the file below, and become to step iv below.

 3. Default to Non Require Fast Startup

This is the default setting. This volition allow you to use Option I and Option Two to turn on or off fast startup.

A) Click/tap on the Download button beneath to download the file below, and become to footstep 4 below.

4 Save the .reg file to your desktop.

5 Double click/tap on the downloaded .reg file to merge it.

vi When prompted, click/tap on Run, Yes (UAC), Yes, and OK to approve the merge.

seven If yous like, you can delete the downloaded .reg file if you like.
